Marquee Magazine CD Review

Mojomama has always been heavy on the funk side of things, but for their newest album, the Longmont-based group seems much more directed at a Tedeschi-Trucks flavor. Mojomama has had that soul and rock combination in their sound, and the group actually covers Tedeschi live, but on this latest release that influence is much more evident.

The group certainly hasn’t shelved their funky repertoire, they’ve just added more to it. Still front and center are the sultry lead vocals of Jessica Rogalski, which have always been the cornerstone of Mojomama’s sound. Rogaliski’s husband Paul bounces basslines throughout the 11-track disc, while guitarist Bob Murnahan throws down technical and superbly executed guitar solos.
